Clone troopers injured in the fighting in the Outer Rim theater came to rely on the Kaliida Shoals Med Center, a top secret facility located not far from Ryndellia and Naboo. The deep space facility could treat tens of thousands of clones, under the vigilant administrations of Nala Se, a sentimental Kaminoan who valued the life of the clone patients under her watch. The core of the station began as a derelict merchant hub in the Enarc Run, purchased by the Republic and refurbished with standardized habitation modules and specialized medical gear. Republic tugs towed the med center to the fringes of the Kaliida Nebula, offering it some protection from surprise enemy incursions by virtue of the nearby navigation obstruction.
The station is built around a central reactor spar, capped by a control hub. Branching out from the hub are eight medical stations, each with gaps large enough to accommodate a vertically docked Republic medical frigate.
Separatist spies uncovered the location of the Kaliida Shoals facility during the Clone Wars and Count Dooku dispatched General Grievous to destroy the station. If successful, Grievous would have wiped out 60,000 convalescing clones, but the Malevolence was intercepted and crippled by General Anakin Skywalker and the pilots of Shadow Squadron.
