In the spirit of Millennium Falcon Week, we thought we'd take a look back at some of the more memorable collectibles inspired by the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy, from airy lightweight paper models made in Japan to hefty six-foot dioramas from France.
Despite a slow start merchandise-wise back in the day -- there were basically a couple toys and a model kit from the '70s and '80s -- the Falcon has emerged in recent years as a collector favorite, lavished with updated and enlarged toy editions, studio scale presentation models, and record-breaking LEGO sets.
As Solo once said, "She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid" -- looking at the cool Falcon collectibles released over the last 30 years, we couldn't agree more (Thanks to Steve Sansweet for providing several of the items for this story).
Hasbro Millennium Falcon re-boot
This year's most memorable Falcon submission is undoubtedly Hasbro's bigger and better toy version that upgrades the original 1979 vehicle to a size 30% larger and adds tons of light-up and sound-off features (Heroes writer Jesse Alexander loves this toy so much he shot a video about it -- check out the story here!)
